Frequently Asked Questions
Questions we hear often
Honest answers to the things parents and students most commonly want to know before starting a programme.
Getting started
The initial consultation is a 30-minute conversation (in person or online) with the student and, for younger students, their parent or guardian. We ask about the current situation — what subject or skill is causing difficulty, what the student's school schedule looks like, and what they are hoping to achieve. There is no obligation to continue and no payment required. We use this meeting to design a suggested learning plan and to introduce the educator we think is the best fit.
We typically schedule the first consultation within 3–5 working days of contact. The first tutoring session can begin 1–2 weeks after that, depending on availability. For students with urgent exam deadlines, we make reasonable efforts to prioritise. Contact us directly to discuss your timeline.
No. Sessions can be booked individually with no long-term commitment. However, we recommend a minimum of 4 weeks to evaluate whether a programme is producing results. Intensive blocks (8 sessions) are available for students with exam deadlines and come at a reduced per-session rate.
Educators and sessions
Yes, as a rule. Each student is assigned a primary educator at the outset and works with that person throughout the programme. We believe continuity matters significantly in educational support. In the event of planned educator absence, sessions are rescheduled or covered by a colleague with prior briefing — never by an unintroduced substitute.
All educators at Lernstudio Celle hold university-level teaching qualifications, Staatsexamen or equivalent subject degrees. None of our staff are unqualified tutors or students. Full profiles of our teaching team are available on the About Us page.
Yes. If the student-educator relationship is not productive, we will find a solution — including reassigning to a different educator where possible. This is handled without charge or difficulty. The student's progress is the priority.
Results and expectations
No. We do not promise specific grades or examination results. Outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including how consistently the student engages between sessions and individual circumstances we cannot predict. What we can promise is structured, attentive support and honest feedback at every stage. We are transparent about this from the first conversation.
This varies considerably. Most students show measurable confidence improvement within 3–4 sessions. Visible academic results (grades, test scores) typically emerge after 6–10 sessions, depending on the depth of the gap and the frequency of sessions. We discuss realistic expectations at the consultation stage.
Parents receive a brief written summary by email at the end of each month, covering what was worked on, where the student stands and what is planned for the following month. For students preparing for imminent exams, updates are more frequent. We are also available by phone or email for questions at any time.
Pricing and logistics
Yes. Online and in-person sessions are priced identically. The format differs; the quality and structure of instruction does not.
Sessions cancelled with at least 24 hours' notice are not charged. Late cancellations under 24 hours are charged at 50% of the session rate. Cancellations on the day of illness are handled case by case — we approach this with common sense.
We work with students from class 4 (approximately age 10) through university level, and with adult learners of all ages for language courses and professional skills. There is no upper age limit.
